When picking out a special gift for the woman you love, the difficulty of such a simple task becomes apparent quickly. If you find yourself stumped and in need of a gift that combines practicality, fashion and durability, consider picking out a top of the line wristwatch for your special lady.

A great watch can say a lot about its wearer. Watches make great gifts because you can pick out a model that is tailored to your better half's personality. What's more, a high quality watch can become an heirloom that will remind her of you for decades to come. Before you make any decisions on a watch for your special someone, take a look at these standout options.

Renato Women's Limited Edition Beauty Swiss Chronograph Bracelet Watch
For a woman who really appreciates fine workmanship, top of the line materials and subtle stylistic flourishes, you can't go wrong with Renato's Limited Edition Beauty Swiss Chronograph Bracelet Watch. Beginning with the classic link bracelet, your special lady will love the stainless steel silver tone links with a polished inner row and two satin finished rows on the outside.

However, the real show stopper is the dial. Protected by a round stainless steel silver tone bezel and a layer of scratch resistant sapphire crystal, the face, available in white or black, is designed for making an elegant impression while encompassing some very useful functionality.

Three sub dials surround the center of the watch and each features a dazzling array of white diamond accents. Two chronographic sub dials track minutes and seconds, respectively, while the third tracks the moon phase. An Arabic numeral graces the 12 o'clock position and markers appear at each other position except for 6 and 4 o'clock, where you'll find a date window. The slim hands are powered by Swiss ISA 8171 Chronograph movement.

Stuhrling Original Women's Cupid Skeleton Automatic Leather Strap Watch

If you'd prefer to strike a more romantic note, you might appreciate the classic design of Stuhrling Original's Cupid Skeleton Automatic Leather Strap Watch. The first thing you'll notice about this classic design is the shining 16 karat rose gold plated stainless steel case and round bezel that sports a low profile push-pull crown near 4 o'clock.

The eye catching rose tone dial is ringed with stylized Arabic numerals at every position except 2 o'clock. The center of the watch face features a unique heart shaped cut out that reveals the complicated inner workings of the piece's 20 Jewel Caliber ST-90089 Automatic movement in action. For those who truly appreciate good craftsmanship, the large exhibition back allows another view inside.

The watch is finished off with a brown leather strap that is overlaid with bronze satin, creating an elegant complement for the whole piece. For the ultimate in coordination, this watch has easily removable pins and comes with two spare bands, in black and gold tone. The perfect accessory for nearly any occasion, any discerning woman would love this fantastic wristwatch.

Gucci Women's Chiodo Black Dial & Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch

If the woman you love has an eye for more daring design, she just might love the Chiodo Black Dial & Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch from Gucci. True to its reputation for upper end accessories, Gucci infuses this distinctive watch with a number of deft artistic features. The thin stainless steel silver tone bracelet suggests an elegant piece of jewelry and leads perfectly to an equally stylized case.

Also executed in silver tone stainless steel, the case is topped with a gracefully tapered round bezel that seems to envelope the dial. Beneath a layer of scratch resistant sapphire crystal, the black watch face is engraved with a pattern that emanates from the center and decked only with the Gucci logo just north of center and a date window near 5 o'clock.

Movado Women's Black Dial & Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch

Finally, Movado's Black Dial and Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch is just the ticket for a woman who appreciates the juxtaposition of classic elements and modern design. This piece's intrigue begins with the stainless steel silver tone bracelet, which sports a central row of alternating thin and thick links flanked by a row of slimmer links.

The shining strap is matched by a simple round bezel the tops a stainless steel case and envelops a minimalist watch face. The dial is protected beneath a layer of hardened mineral crystal and sports only the Movado logo and the words "Swiss Made" at the bottom. The silver tone hands are powered by reliable Quartz movement.

With a wide range of watches to suit any occasion on the market, you're bound to find that perfect gift to express your appreciation for the special lady in your life.

7 Women's Watches That Are Ideal For Stylish Athletes

There's a misconception in our society that female athletes don't care about style - that they don't care about what they look like, what they wear, and how they represent themselves to others. Newsflash, gentlemen, even athletic women want to look nice. An integral part of any stylish woman's outfit is a great watch - one that both operates as a timepiece and that adds an accent to any outfit, whether it be a tennis skirt or a rower's uni-suit. There are a variety of watches on the market right now that are ideal for stylish athletes.

Swiss Legend's Women's South Beach Rubber Strap Watch is both beautiful and practical. The fun, Tiffany box blue rubber band adds a pop of color to any outfit, while the fact that its rubber (as opposed to leather or metal) means that it's a no muss, no fuss piece. This watch is great for young athletes who prefer the bright color and aren't afraid to stand out in a crowd. The strap also comes in pink, black and white.

Waltham Women's Quartz Color Me Set of Five Leather Watches is also a great buy. This set is relatively cheap, and offers a variety of colors to offset even the most boring of outfits. The slim leather band makes for a watch that can be worn on its own, or with bracelets, and because it's not at all hefty, it's ideal for a day of practice on the courts or hitting the gym. The band, which is faux alligator leather style, comes in purple, blue, yellow, pink and black, and is interchangeable, so you can switch it up depending on your mood!

Stuhrling Original Women's Clipper Sport Swiss Quartz Movement Rubber Strap Watch is ideal for the athletes who want to look stylish but aren't afraid to get down and dirty. This timepiece doesn't offer the thinnest of straps, but it's stylish in an off-kilter lime green/yellow shade, as well as pink, white and brown. The thick leather strap makes it durable, so you can sport it while you're rowing down the Connecticut or taking to the courts at basketball practice. The band stretches, allowing for movement, so you can stay stylish while you're kicking butt.
Invicta Women's Lupah Quartz Day and Date Corian Bracelet Watch is also a great buy. With bright, fun colors like orange, red and yellow, this sporty bracelet watch can easily take you from the soccer field to your dinner date. Made from Corian, a thermosetting plastic, this watch is at once sturdy and stylish. There's no going wrong with a timepiece that is both beautiful and able to go from the gym to yoga to a night out.
Ed Hardy's Midsize VIP Bracelet Watch comes in four astoundingly bright colors, including lime green, bright turquoise, fuchsia and pink. It's a fun accent piece for any outfit, whether you're wearing it with sweats, a sports bra and a white tee to the gym, or out on the town with the girls. The band is plastic, so it can withstand sweat, heat and pretty much anything else. Don't feel afraid to put this watch to the test, because chances are, it'll pass.

Sometimes a girl just wants something simple. Waltham Women's Opulent Crystal Accent Bezel Bracelet Watch is just that. Though the title dictates opulence, in reality, this watch is a simply chic accessory that can easily go from the gym to the beach and back again. The bright turquoise color is perfect for summer, and will compliment your tan incredibly well. What's more, this piece is heavy duty enough to withstand multiple summer seasons.
Invicta Women's Lupah Revolution Swiss Chronograph Leather Strap Watch is another timepiece that's comfortable, stylish, and easy to wear. With the option of a lime green leather alligator band or an orange one, this watch keeps you well armed whether you're on the courts or in a business meeting. The strap features heavy duty leather, so you don't' have to worry about this watch going anywhere. It's definitely chic, but still doable for the athletic woman, who's on the run (literally!) at all times.

There we have it! As proven above, there are plenty of timepiece options for the stylish female athlete. Female athletes no longer have to choose between practicality, function and pure style. You can be fashionable, feminine and sporty all at once. If you're looking for a new watch, you can count on any of the above options to take you from practice to dinner and back again, without even breaking a sweat. And hey, if you do, these watches can take the heat.

Blancpain Women's Saint Valentine Jewelry Swiss Watches Review

    A Dedicated Collection

In Women's collection Blancpain sharply change the focus from function to style. Several directions offer differing stylistic visions, suitable for a range of tastes in fashion, company and pastime. Even such movement complications as a flyback chronograph, a moon phase indicator or a complete calendar play only a secondary role; instead, precious materials, gems and metals, geometric motifs, color and artistic consideration take precedence. The result is nothing like Blancpain have made in other collections with the sole exception of Women's Specialites. The main difference from the Specialties consists of a more systematic development – as befits a dedicated collection

    Color, Numerals, Gemstones

Most Blancpain Women watches keep the quintessential ultra-slim case, and include one or two complications. This provides a minimal depth of movement variety, leaving the rest to design. Three main directions make emphasis on either color, numerals or gemstones, the still evolving Saint Valentine line presenting the latter. More elaborate models combine precious stones with an according color scheme and numerals size, producing intricately designed jewelry timepieces. Colors vary from burgundy, black, honey-brown and deep blue to softer pink and off-white. Oversized and stylized Arabic indexes allow for effortless legibility, while the calendar variation include both roman and Arabic numerals – for the same purpose

    Saint Valentine

The highlight of Blancpain Women's Collection, is, in my opinion, the Saint Valentine line. Though not as colorful as some other models, it projects its own unique character by the clear enamel or iridescent mother-of-pearl dials. Moreover, to signify Saint Valentine's day, large rubies cut as hearts were inlayed into the faces (in the 2007 collection), or, conversely, small rubies were arranged to form a big heart at six o'clock (in the 2008 collection), delineating the seconds subdial. 2008 Saint Valentine features hollowed, cone-shaped hands to underscore the impression of grace and finesse.
Though when compared to such traditional brands as Vacheron Constantin or Breguet, Blancpain may not stand out as trend-setters when it comes to design, the Women's Collection holds its own, and indeed stands on equal terms with the most fashionable and design-conscious watchmakers.

    Rolex Ladies' Cellini watches

    Rolex Cellini for Ladies

Those who say quartz watches are of lesser quality than mechanical ones ought to check out the beautifully crafted and classically elegant ladies models in the rolex cellini collection.
While it is true that most Rolex wristwatches have a mechanical movement, one of the particularities of the Cellini line is that its women's models - named Cellissima, Quartz, and Orchid -- are ticking exclusively with an electronic mechanism.

    Rolex Cellissima

Let's talk about the Cellissima watches first, for if I were a woman (though not necessarily a "lady") they would probably be my favourite Rolex models. Why? Because these 18-carat white gold timepieces are gracefully elegant and have that "eternal" look that never gets outdated. Though some watches- sports or other functional models, for example - can be rough around the edges, there is nothing even remotely harsh about the Cellissimas.

To the contrary, two models with the tonneau-shaped cases have soft and fluid lines, and look like they were designed to blend with any wrist snugly and comfortably. One model has a pale-pink dial with Roman numerals, a bezel set with brilliants, and a green leather strap with a gold folding clasp. The other one has a white dial, a polished bezel, brilliants-encrusted end-pieces - parts that join the case to the bracelet - and a blue leather strap with a folding clasp.

Despite the use of brilliants, both watches have a decidedly reserved, rather than sumptuous, look. I think it is because the leather straps are in muted colors, imparting a discreetly elegant look to the timepieces.

I like to think of the third Cellissima model as the "rebel," because its design is much bolder than its sisters': a round silver "Jubilee" dial with diamond hour markers, bezel and end-pieces set with brilliants, and a bright pink leather strap. Again, I think the higher "flashiness" quotient of this watch has a lot to do with the color of the strap - there is just no way you can call hot pink "subdued."

You will like the tonneau-shaped Cellissima models if you favour dressiness that is not overly conspicuous. If you prefer "loud" timepieces, then the one with the pink strap will not go unnoticed.

    Cellini Quartz

The lone model in the Quartz line is different from its Cellissima kin. With a champagne dial and a very intricate "Damier" bracelet - rather than leather straps -- this 18-carat yellow gold wristwatch is smooth and sleek. Although all-gold watches sometimes tend to be a bit overwhelming, especially for yours truly, the unfussy design and soft lines of the Quartz model imbue a classic simplicity to it.
The Rolex Cellini Quartz features Arabic numerals framed by a champagne dial.

    Cellini Orchid

Now that I have talked about the discreet elegance of the Cellissima and quartz watches, let me take a rather drastic detour. I say "drastic" because the design of the third women's wristwatch in the Cellini line, the Orchid, is in total contrast with the fluid softness, classic simplicity and clarity of the other models.

This audacious and glitzy 18-carat yellow gold watch with a distinctly "Baroque" look has a white mother-of-pearl dial with diamonds, and a bezel and bracelet set with brilliants. The craftsmanship of this timepiece is superb, but you really have to be seriously enamored of an exaggerated opulence to wear this watch in public. No doubt it is a head-turner - and probably a fender-bender as well - but it is rather inconsistent with my personal preference for less adorned watches.

I hasten to add that those who like the bejeweled dial and bezel, but think the ornate bracelet is just too much, might be happy to know this model is also available with a leather strap.

Does it matter that these elegant timepieces are powered by a quartz movement? If you are a by-the-book traditionalist who believes that beauty comes from within, then you may prefer a mechanical wristwatch. But as far as I am concerned, a beautiful Rolex watch will never ...er... tick me off.

Patek Philippe Twenty~4 Ladies Jewelry Watches Review

    Twenty~4 Ladies

Patek Philippe Twenty~4 Ladies is a universal collection that employs precious metal, diamonds and style to achieve refined levels of elegance. A highly evolved collection, Twenty~4 offers watches that fit into three main categories: high fashion, high jewelry, and dress. All watches feature a small, traditionally rectangular case, and a certain number of diamonds – from several dozens to several hundreds. In order to reduce the size of Twenty~4 timepieces, Patek Philippe equipped them with a quartz movement. The small size (25x30 mm) conveniently blurs the line between the function of timekeeping and of being a jewelry piece. While some of the variations become jewelry that also keeps time, others manage to effectively balance the two functions.

WHAT JEWELRY WOULD AUSTEN’S CHARACTERS BE WEARING TODAY ?

At the fall regional JASNA-NY meeting, the 100 or so participants divided into discussion groups. Each group was given names of two Austen characters and asked to describe what jewelry they would own/wear if they were alive today, based on their personalities and financial resources. The same characters were given to more than one group; sometimes the two groups’ answers were similar and other times they were very different.Reprinted below (in alphabetical order) are some of the inventive, clever, and amusing answers that were devised.

    Charlotte Collins
The two groups saw Charlotte in gold: A gold locket from Asprey’s, a simple gold chain with a simple gold pendant.

    Georgiana Darcy
One group viewed Georgiana as a hip teen, wearing tattoos, belly button piercing, and other modern jewelry popular with teens. The other group saw her as an understated young lady wearing a simple bangle bracelet with her initial, tiny diamond earrings from her grandmother, and a pearl necklace from her father for her 16th
     birthday.
                                                                                >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Fanny Dashwood
Both groups agreed that Fanny is a showy ostentatious person (a Hedge Fund wife). One group saw her wearing jewelry from Cartier: layers of gold rope necklaces, oversized, clunky, ostentatious but valuable and trendy. The other group agreed that she would be wearing very showy earrings – dangling (probably in debatable taste).  She would also be wearing showy pins (brooches)--Paloma Picasso for sure.

    Lady Catherine de Bourgh
Again both groups agreed that Lady Catherine would be wearing quality jewelry – a bit showy but expensive and beautiful. The first group felt that she would shop at Cartier or buy multistrand Mikimoto pearls with a platinum/diamond clasp, a 5-carat canary yellow diamond ring, or other Estate jewelry. The other group saw her in items of great value possibly obtained from a Sotheby’s Auction since she is a collector of fine jewelry, a  star sapphire maybe.Lady Penelope Elliot Group one saw Lady Elliot wearing ostentatious jewelry made from zircons, while the other group saw her shopping at Harry Winston, Bulgari, and Tiffany.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Elinor Ferrars
Participants viewed Elinor’s taste and purse differently. One group felt that she would wear a set of pearls from Mikimoto or classic Tiffany, while the other group saw her wearing thrift shop purchases (pearls) or buying Native American Jewelry (tied with a leather strap).Lucy SteeleBoth groups saw Lucy in cheap knock-offs--showy garish, and vulgar.  Claire’s is her store where she would buy chandelier drop earrings and trendy ankle bracelets.  She would have multiple ear piercings and a tattoo on her lower back.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Emma Woodhouse
The two groups agreed that Emma would wear high-end diamond sets from Cartier and Harry Winston, or she would wear understated pearls and diamonds – all classy from Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels.  Herfavorites would be a tennis bracelet, a college signet ring, diamond studs, and gold hoop earrings with a small pearl.
